The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services is seeking candidates for a Senior Epidemiology Specialist position. This position will serve on the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Epidemiology Response team located within the Office of Epidemiology, Section of Epidemiology for Public Health Practices. This position will work closely with the Missouri Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC). The primary duties of this position include providing data/analytical/epidemiological support to WIC programs from a variety of internal and external data repositores. This position will also serve as a liason between programs and information technology teams to derive the data required for program planning, improvement and evaluation. The position will collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders working towards improving maternal and child health in Missouri and the US.
Preferred skills for candidates include:
- Background in data management (especially data cleaning), statistics, research methods, and health information analysis and presentation.
- Experience working with large data sets.
- Proficiency with statistical software packages (preferably SAS, SPSS or STATA). • Background in program planning and evaluation.
- Familiarity with PC desktop resources and Microsoft Professional Office software.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- High levels of commitment, ability to work in a team, meet deadlines and communicate with a wide audience.
Hours are from 8:00 to 5:00, Monday through Friday. Flex time may be considered.
