Seattle ERIC Center Core Study Coordinator The Seattle Epidemiologic Research and Information Center (ERIC) seeks an experienced Research Coordinator at the GS-9 level to work with an energetic national research team on 2 large, epidemiologic projects under development. The Seattle ERIC is 1 of 4 epidemiologic centers within the VA Cooperative Studies Program (CSP) of the Office of Research and Development. The Center's mission is to improve the health and health care of Veterans by promoting state-of-the-art multi-center, epidemiologic research.

The ERIC has a successful research program that dates back to 1997 and is seeking to fill a core position that provides study coordination to ERIC core research projects. The Center has been assigned 2 large observational studies that are currently in the piloting phase. The position is supervised by the Study Manager and the candidate is expected to work independently.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide daily operational support to meet research and administrative objectives;
  • Coordinate work associated with research investigators, contractors, and consultants in Seattle and the study sites;
  • Monitor study progress and provide technical assistance to facilitate compliance with applicable IRB, human subjects and data security guidelines and regulations;
  • Monitor subject recruitment and data collection activities and rates and take corrective action when required;
  • Develop and maintain databases and documentation files;
  • Prepare written reports, policies, procedures, documentation and visual presentations;
  • Establish necessary collaborations with other research, clinical and support staff at host or collaborating institutions.

Ideal candidates have the following attributes.

  • BA/BS in science or clinical field
  • 2 years or more experience in health related research studies
  • Experience using suite of MS Office products, including Access; experience with statistical software, such as SPSS, preferred.
  • Strong organizational, analytic and communication skills
  • Knowledge of research compliance regulations
