Since the mid-1960s the University of Washington Ethnomusicology Division
has invited two master musicians each year to join the faculty as artists
in residence. These artists provide an opportunity for students to gain
firsthand musical experience in individual lessons and ensembles. In
addition, international students in the Ethnomusicology Program who are
expert musicians are also often invited to provide instruction in their
instrumental or vocal tradition.
