Lets Evaluate Web Sites - if they build it, will you visit?

If you are NOT sure, ask these questions:

  • Purpose of the Web site

  • Who will be using the site

  • Who developed this web site and how was the content created

  • Who is associated with the author of the site (the publisher)

  • What organization (if any) sponsored(s) the Web site

  • Goal of Web site sponsor

  • Check the contents of the Web site for:
    • Accurate or suspect?
    • Was the material written recently?
    • Does the material appear to be fair?
    • How extensively is the material presented?


    • What does .gov or .edu mean?

      .gov = government web sites - like the white house
      .edu = educational web sites - like the university
      .org = non-profit web site - like the American Medical Association
      .com = commerical web site - like Polygram Records
      .net = privately owned web site/server - such as someone who rents space for your web site
