iPad use Increasing in Higher Education

As reported in a recent Campus Technology article, the use of iPads has been increasing in higher education institutions. A continually updated list of colleges and universities along with other industries using the iPad is maintained by ZDNet bloggers at http://ipadpilots.k12cloudlearning.com/. Although initially approached with some skepticism regarding its use in education, it seems that more institutions are adopting iPads for use not just as an experimental tool but for classes as well.

  1. I think using the Ipad in educational institutions among students is a very advanced thing in our modern world. In my school district in Georgia the administration is considering providing all the public school students with Ipads or Kindle for downloads of books instead of the hard copy books. This is proposed to save tons of money. Of course no one knows if they are considering these ipads or kindle on a loan or purchase basics. Presently the students are not using hard copy books for homework assignments, but instead they are reviewing book material and homeworks by download from the internet websites. Do you think this is at all feasible or practical? Being from the “old school” I think the books are still a smarter way to go. Financially, I am still not sure.

    Hi,
In my school district, we all have iPads now and we are supposed to somehow integrate them into what we are doing in the classrooms. I find this very difficult but thanks god there are some online resources. For instance:
