Agros exists to restore hope and opportunity to the world's poor. Our vision is to see rural poor families own agricultural land, attain economic self-sufficiency, realize their God-given potential, and pass on to future generations the values and resources that enable them to flourish.
Agros works to help rural poor families in developing countries break free from poverty. We do this by helping the rural poor to acquire land, build village infrastructure, develop as individuals, create strong community organizations, and develop economic capacity. Agros currently supports fifteen developing communities in El Salvador, Guatemala and Nicaragua. Since 1982, Agros' efforts have equipped over 3000 people to break free from poverty. The Agros Foundation is recognized by the United Nations for providing lasting solutions to poverty in Central America.

ASPA's award-winning publications, PAR and PA Times, consistently rank as leading resources for both theory and practical information in the field. ASPA has are over 9,000 members, including professionals looking to enhance service delivery to citizens while coping with budget cuts, students embarking on a career and looking to become more closely connected, and scholars searching across cultures to re-inform governance at home.
The Evergreen Chapter, in Washington State, is one of the largest and most active chapters with membership opening from north of Seattle through the South Puget Sound area. Students comprise approximately 20 percent of the Evergreen Chapter's membership. Our chapter produces a variety of program activities for the benefit of members, students, and the community. America has too many problems that no one seems to be solving-whether from lack of will or from losing the way. The job of the state Public Interest Research Groups (PIRGs) and our affiliated organizations is to provide those missing ingredients. At each state PIRG, the staff works to achieve concrete, practical changes on issues ranging from protecting public health to safeguarding consumers, from preserving environment, to establishing meaningful campaign finance reform. On the process of promoting pragmatic solutions, we often encounter opposition from powerful corporations, entrenched politicians, or other special interests. Yet, through careful research and smart political strategies, we have proven able to overcome their resistance time and time again. The state PIRGs employ over 400 attorneys, policy analysts, and organizers. They are active in all 50 states as well as Washington D.C.

Sound Transit

Representative: Janice Bondar
Title: Human Resources Manager
E-Mail: bondarj@soundtransit.org
Traffic congestion in the Central Puget Sound region is among the worst in the nation, and it will only get worse as the region continues to grow. That's one of the reasons the state Legislature passed a law in 1993 allowing the creation of Sound Transit and giving it the responsibility to plan, build and operate a high-capacity transit system. It's also one of the reasons that, in 1996, voters in Snohomish, Pierce and King counties approved Sound Transit's plan for bringing express buses, commuter trains and electric light rail to the area.
Think of Sound Transit as one piece in a large transportation puzzle. All interlocking pieces of the puzzle are important — transit, ferries, airports, highways, freight traffic, bicycles and pedestrians.
Sound Transit works closely with partner transit agencies to coordinate services and connections. For example, all five of the agencies accept PugetPass, a regional fare payment system that helps connect pieces of the puzzle and goes a long way towards making transit an easy alternative to being stuck in traffic.
