Eligibility & Prerequisites

Exploration Seminars are open to students from all areas of study, and from any of the three University of Washington campuses. All courses are conducted in English and unless otherwise noted in the program description, there are no specific prerequisites or other requirements for participation (language skills, minimum GPA, major, etc) .

For standard participation, you must be enrolling for Autumn Quarter 2008 (students graduating in Spring 2008 or Summer 2008 are eligible for participation only as non-matriculated students - see below).

Admission to Exploration Seminars is competitive, and acceptance/admission for most programs is first-come, first-served, and at the sole discretion of individual program directors, based upon academic goals and progress, their application essay (which includes a short statement of intent), desired balance among participants, and in most cases through an interview with program directors.

Because most Exploration Seminars offer upper-division undergraduate credits, priority is given to undergraduate sophomores, juniors and seniors. Admission to graduate students, non-matriculated students and freshman is made on a space-available basis, and at the sole discretion of program directors.

Students from other institutions, and students who have graduated may participate as non-matriculated students. Anyone applying as a non-matriculated student (anyone who will not be enrolled at the UW in fall quarter following the program) will be subject to an additional $200 non-matriculated student fee, and must pay all program fees up-front upon the processing of a payment contract.
