The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), headquartered in London, England, is paving the way in setting standards for the world economy. This Exploration Seminar to London will be a rare and unique opportunity to focus study on International Reporting Standards (IFRS). This will be a focused learning experience that cannot be duplicated in the classroom. Gain a professional advantage by learning specific knowledge about international accounting standards that employers are looking for. The major accounting firms are gearing up for the transition to IFRS that is being proposed by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Credits: Students will earn 5 credits for ACCTG 490. Participants should check with their advisors to determine how these credits count towards departmental requirements.
Requirements:
Because of the accounting focus for this seminar, a prerequisite of Accounting 215 or equivalent will be necessary. There will be 2 pre-trip class sessions required to get up to speed on accounting standards. There will also be a required writing assignment at the end of the seminar comparing and contrasting IFRS with GAAP.
