The Office of Faculty Development provides and coordinates resources for faculty in various stages of their academic careers.

Christina Surawicz, MD, Professor of Medicine, serves as the first Assistant Dean for Faculty Development appointed by Dean Paul Ramsey in May 2002. The position recognizes the need to provide and coordinate resources for faculty in various stages of their academic careers. This office also provides oversight for the Research Funding Service.

Activities include

  • organizing the annual two-day faculty development programs in the winter (this will be the 9th year), and coordinating faculty development topics with Donna Ambrozy, PhD, head of faculty development in the Department of Medical Education and Biomedical Informatics (http://www.mebi.washington.edu/facdev.html).
  • Talks from the current year programs can be found on this website as well as particularly relevant ones from prior years.
  • Other activities include ongoing salary survey to address equity, leadership development program, department-specific programs, and individual career consulting.
