Paul Connor, Ph.D. A native of Seattle, Paul Connor was a graduate of the University of Washington with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology. He traveled to Utah to obtain his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology from Brigham Young University. After spending one year in the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan, completing his internship in Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology, he returned to the University of Washington in 1995 for a post-doctoral fellow ship at the Fetal Alcohol & Drug Unit. Since then he has continued with FADU and has been moving up the faculty ranks now holding a position of Assistant Professor. He has been the neuropsychologist for the Fetal Alcohol and Drug Unit for the past ten years. Paul's research interests include neuropsychological, neuroimaging, and mental health assessments of individuals exposed to alcohol prenatally. He serves as the Project Director of the Seattle Longitudinal Prospective Study, a study that enrolled approximately 500 subjects prior to birth with known levels of prenatal alcohol exposure ranging from abstinence to relatively heavy exposure. He is a Co-Investigator for a study of MRI and neuropsychological functioning in patients diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) and Fetal Alcohol Effects (FAE). Dr. Connor has also been the Principal Investigator for a study of functional MRI that assesses brain activation in relation to several tests of cognitive function known to be impaired in patients with FAS and FAE. As the Clinical Director of FADU, Dr. Connor runs the information and referral service for the unit and is actively involved in the research goals of the unit. Also, in conjunction with Dr. Janet Huggins, a Clinical Psychologist within our unit, Dr. Connor has established a neuropsychological assessment service for adults with known or suspected prenatal alcohol exposure to conduct neuropsychological, mental health, and adaptive functioning assessments to assist with appropriate referrals for services and interventions and to assist with obtaining a diagnosis in the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum.
