"The consensus on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) is a huge step forward in relaying to the public what research has already clearly shown - namely that the brain is more important than the face in understanding the impact of prenatal alcohol on the developing child. This consensus should open doors for the early detection of babies at a time in life when their mothers can get help with their alcohol problems and the babies can get into early intervention programs. FASD has important implications for both prevention and intervention."
