Connecting to the Quartz Fileserver

Using Mac OS 10

1. Go to the "GO" Menu and select Connect to Server....

2. In the "Address" field, enter the hostname quartz.fammed.washington.edu.

3. Enter your login name and password. If you do not know what this is, contact ITSS staff for a login.

4. After you log in, click to select your name share, UWFM Public, and any applicable workgroup that you belong to. Check the boxes adjacent to the selected items to have them mount automatically.

Using Mac OS 9.x

1. Go to the Apple Menu and select the Chooser application.

2. Open the Chooser, and click once on AppleShare.

3. After clicking AppleShare, select the Server IP button.

4. Enter the hostname quartz.fammed.washington.edu.

5. Enter your login name and password. If you do not know what this is, contact ITSS staff for a login.

6. After you log in, click to select your name share, UWFM Public, and any applicable workgroup that you belong to. Check the boxes adjacent to the selected items to have them mount automatically.

7. Close the Chooser, and you should have access to your shares. From this point out, when you reboot/login to your computer you will simply be asked for your user name and password.

Windows Machines:

Please contact the CSG for instructions on how to connect to Quartz File Server via SMB (Windows File Sharing).

Connect to DNS Service:

You may specify the Quartz File Server as your primary, secondary or tertiary DNS (Domain Name Resolution) server. To do this, simply edit your TCP/IP preferences to include the IP 128.95.66.36-no additional configuration is required.
