The mission of the University of Washington Family Medicine Residency Program is to train full-service family physicians for practice with a priority for underserved areas in the Pacific Northwest and academic or health policy involvement.

To fulfill that mission, the residency maintains active and full-service clinical practices at its Family Medical Center at the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) and at its Family Medicine Clinic at Harborview Medical Center (HMC). Both are managed by UW Medicine and serve diverse patient populations.

Individual department faculty also participate in other services within UWMC including the Pain Center, Sports Medicine, Palliative Care and Geriatrics.
