The Goal and Objectives of the Family Medicine Clerkship

Goal: Students will learn and apply the Family Medicine approach to health care exemplified by these key components:

a. Biopsychosocial aspects of care
b. Comprehensive care
c. Continuity of care
d. Context of care
e. Coordination and integration of care

Objective 1: Students will learn and apply knowledge of common problems and wellness and prevention within the framework of the Family Medicine approach to patient care.

Objective 2: Students will learn and apply selected effective patient-centered care skills.

Objective 3: Students will integrate clinical knowledge and effective patient-centered care skills into their care of patients adopting healthier behaviors.

Objective 4: Students will act professionally in the care of patients and their families; and in interactions with their health care team and communities.
