Numeric Scoring Criteria for Final Grades

Grading Criteria

Honors

Must have a majority of 5's in each category (Clinical Knowledge and Skills, Patient Care Skills, and Interpersonal Relationships). Must have at least one 5 in Professional/Personal Characteristics with nothing lower than 4. No score lower than 4 in any category (exception: preceptor may not have sufficient contact to judge
procedural skills resulting in "N/A").

High Pass

Must have a majority of 4’s and 5's in each category of Clinical Knowledge and Skills, Patient Care Skills, and Interpersonal Relationships with nothing lower than a 3.
**Please note that the Professional/Personal Characteristics category only has two sub categories. Therefore, students must have at least one 4 or 5 in this category with nothing lower than 3.

Pass

The Pass grade reflects the performance of a student at the expected level for a third year clerkship student.

Fail

A failing grade is based on student’s performance taken as a whole and not solely based on any one numeric profile.  A 1 in any category will result in a failure. Multiple 2's may result in a failure.

Overall Assessment of Professionalism:Based on "Interpersonal Relationships" and "Personal Characteristics" categories of the evaluation form.

Meets or Exceeds Expectations

3 or above in ALL categories

Below Expectations

2 in any category

Unacceptable

1 in any category or multiple 2’s may result in an unacceptable assessment
