The Family Medicine Clerkship in Billings provides a varied and excellent experience for students interested in exploring what Family Medicine can offer. Students will get to see a variety of clinic settings in Billings including a Community Health Center (MFMR/RiverStone Health), multi-specialty offices (West Grand Family Medicine/Billings Clinic West), and likely will have some inpatient medical experience in one or both of the hospitals. The rotation home base is through the residency, Montana Family Medicine Residency, however students will only be based here for a portion of their rotation. MFMR consists of twenty residents, 10 faculty members, and a variety of support personnel staff. Students are expected to participate in several educational meetings during the Wednesday afternoon didactic conferences at the residency, evening lecture series, and other student oriented events.
COMMUNITY: There are many excellent recreational opportunities in the Billings area including skiing, fishing, kayaking, mountain and road bicycling, golf, and tennis. COMMON CLINIC PATIENTS: At the residency clinic (a community health clinic), students will see a mix of family medicine patients including lower income and the underserved. At the local hospital affiliated clinics, students will see a more typical mixture of outpatient populations.
