SITE COORDINATOR: BRUCE RICHARDSON, MD
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Community: Dr. Richardson working with Dr. Karen (Kari) Lien precepts students. The Havre area has a population of approximately 12,000 and is located on the "Hi-Line" in Northcentral Montana. It is a community that features numerous outdoor activities, including two ski areas, fishing and hiking. It is also the home of Montana State University-Northern. The site offers both diverse cultural and clinical experiences including operative obstetrics. The Northern Montana Medical Group East utilizes Northern Montana Hospital, a 49-bed acute care facility, featuring an ICU/CCU and obstetrical unit, ambulatory surgery wing, and an inpatient psychiatric unit adjacent to the hospital.
Faculty: Dr. Richardson is the site coordinator for the rotation. Both Drs. Lien and Richardson are residency trained and board-certified family practitioners.
Housing: Two-bedroom house adjacent to the hospital and office.
Transportation: Students fly directly to Havre or take the train. A four-wheel drive vehicle is provided for students on site.
