Become a Mentor

Thank you for your interest in the Underserved Pathway!

Mentorship is a requirement for all students in the Underserved Pathway. Students are required to meet with their mentor once a quarter for the duration of their pathway experience. We know that students have little contact with providers who serve vulnerable populations and that clerkship opportunities in underserved sites are limited. We believe that a longitudinal relationship with a mentor will support students’ commitment to pursue a career working with the underserved.

Mentors and students are matched based on geography, common interests, and other factors. Students may be matched for the UP based on an existing mentoring relationship, such as with a college mentor or preceptor.
