Biographical Information

Laura-Mae Baldwin is a Professor of Family Medicine, a practicing family physician, and the Director of the WWAMI region Practice and Research Network (WPRN), a practice-based research network in the five state Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho region. Dr. Baldwin has established active research partnerships with clinical practices, clinical organizations, and health systems across the WWAMI region, with a focus on collaborative research that implements health care innovations and improves quality of care in real-world primary care setttings. Dr. Baldwin is also an investigator at the UW Center for Health Workforce Studies and Rural Health Research Center, bringing expertise in the use of large secondary databases to study racial/ethnic and rural-urban health disparities, cancer prevention and treatment, and perinatal health, all with an eye towards ensuring equitable access to high quality health services across the U.S.c

Current Projects

Development of an Electronically Linked Practice Based Research Network in the WWAMI States. Funded by the National Center for Research Resources through the Clinical Translational Science Award mechanism.

Ovarian Cancer Screening, Testing, and Referral among Family Physicians, General Internists, and Obstetrician-Gynecologists. Funded by the CDC.

Dissemination of a Successful Electronic Communication and Pharmacist Care Model to Improve Hypertension Control in the Community. Pilot work funded by the Institute of Translational Health Sciences and the Group Health Research Institute.
