Dear Patient,
We have some important news to share with you. The University of Washingtons Fertility and Endocrine Center (FEC) physicians (Drs. Paul Lin, Nancy Klein, Angela Thyer and Michael Soules) will be moving to a private practice this fall. The Fertility and Endocrine Center will close September 24, 2004. Fertility services at Eastside Specialty Clinic will no longer be provided after September 24, 2004. University of Washington Roosevelt Clinics and Eastside Specialty Clinic (ESC) will continue to be open for all other clinical specialties and services offered at each location.
We know your first concern will be how this announcement will affect you:
- If you have an active in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle planned prior to August 15, your care will not be interrupted by this change and you will continue to receive the same high quality care you have come to expect from the FEC physicians and staff. We will also provide your follow-up care following your embryo transfer.
- If you were planning on scheduling an IVF cycle after August 15th, we are happy to assist you in transferring your care to another practice.
- If you have a new patient appointment scheduled, you may keep that appointment and transfer your subsequent care to another fertility practice or cancel your appointment. Your appointment would be primarily for a consultation visit, as we will not be starting any new IVF cycles. Please call FEC at 206-598-4225 or ESC at 425-646-7777 if you would like to cancel your appointment.
- If you have surgery planned, we anticipate performing surgery through September 15.
- If you have fertility-related follow-up appointments scheduled or would like to schedule a follow-up appointment, we are happy to see you through Friday, September 24, 2004. You may schedule follow-up appointments with our physicians, nurse practitioner or social worker. If you would like to cancel your appointment and transfer your care to another practice, please call FEC at 206-598-4225 or ESC at 425-646-7777.
- If you have frozen embryos or sperm in storage at the FEC Embryology Laboratory, you will be receiving a letter regarding options for moving them to another facility for safekeeping.
Please know that we will do everything we can to ensure a seamless transition for all of our patients. The following are fertility practices in King County that you may wish to contact regarding your future fertility care:
