Comparative Developmental Biology: Insights into Embryos, Cells and Evolution.

Organized by Drs. Billie Swalla, Richard Strathmann, Victoria Foe, Garrett Odell, George von Dassow, and Volker Schmid.

 June 6-11, 2004

The meeting was organized to get together researchers studying comparative embryology from many different viewpoints, from the genome to the whole embryo. This meeting is unique in examining cell biology as fundamental to the understanding of evolution and development. As we continue to sequence genomes and investigate the molecular changes that drive developmental processes, it becomes increasingly important to remember that genomes act within cells, highlighting the importance of cell biology in studies of comparative embryology.  We have gathered an expert and interactive group of people to speak and plan to choose additional speakers from submitted abstracts.  Please join us for a week of celebration investigating the beauty and elegance of eggs, embryos and larvae.

Hosted by UW-Friday Harbor Labs and other sponsors.
