Traveling to and from Friday Harbor

Thank you for working with our designated travel agent, Mike Henrichs of Doug Fox Travel. You can reach him by e-mail at michael.henrichs@dougfoxtravel.com. Please send a copy of your travel corrrespondence to Rachel Anderson (fhl100@u.washington.edu).

If we prepay your ticket it will help simplify the reimbursement process. If you have already purchased your own tickets, please let Rachel know.

Making your Airplane Reservations

Mike can help you with an itinerary that best suits you. Please remember, if you are flying into SeaTac airport, it is advisable to arrive no later than 12:00 noon in order to arrive in Friday Harbor by late afternoon for registration and dinner.

In making your return reservation out of SeaTac, it is difficult to fly out any time before 12:00 noon.

From SeaTac Airport to Friday Harbor and Return

There are a number of ways to reach Friday Harbor from SeaTac Airport: plane, sea plane, shuttle and rental car.

Flying to Friday Harbor from Seattle

If you are interested in flying from Seattle to Friday Harbor, you have two options. Please check the websites for San Juan Airlines and Kenmore Air. (Kenmore offers sea plane travel.) Mike can help you with these reservations.

Van Transportation to Friday Harbor from Seattle

If you'd rather not fly, there is van service from the airport to Friday Harbor. Please check the websites for Island Airporter and Airporter Shuttle.

Driving to Anacortes/ Friday Harbor

Driving to Anacortes (ferry terminal for Friday Harbor) from Seattle takes approximately 2 hours. To check the current ferry schedule, you can visit the website for Washington State Ferries .

To be at the Labs for registration and dinner, you would need to catch the 2:40 pm ferry (or an earlier one). There are pay parking lots at the ferry terminal where you can leave your car if you wish. If you'd like to bring a car to Friday Harbor, it is worth planning on getting to the ferry terminal early. (It's difficult to say how early... but at least an hour before, maybe more.)

Transportation to and from the Labs

We will be happy to transport you to and from the Labs once you arrive in Friday Harbor. Please send Rachel your itinerary and we'll pick you up!

Thank you.

If you have any questions, please contact Rachel Anderson (fhl100@u.washington.edu).
