FMF Training

What did you like about the FMF training?

"I loved learning a new intervention that was empirically supported and that I believed would help the clients I serve and their families. I’m a social being so the networking, laughter, and role playing were a big hit with me. I thought the facilitators were great! They made the whole experience fun." --FMF specialist

Training for clinicians who want to become "FMF Specialists" is available. Contact the FMF Program Office for more information!

Currently, on-site agency trainings are being offered through the Institute for Family Development on a fee for service basis. A two-person FMF Program training team travels to the agency site to provide an intensive five-day training. Training includes didactics, video, roleplay, group exercises, readings, and hands-on activities to thoroughly learn about FASD and how to use the FMF Program materials. Trainees are ready to use the FMF Program, and have access to all materials, immediately after the intensive training. Ongoing consultation is offered as a follow-up to help clinicians use the program effectively and with fidelity.

Training topics include:

  • FASD 101: The family experience, alcohol and the brain, and more
  • Risk, Resilience and Rewards: Insights into the stories, strengths and potential of individuals with FASD and their families
