Teaching Certificate in French

Students planning to pursue the Master's In Teaching (MIT) at the University of Washington should contact the College of Education, Office of Student Services, 206 Miller Hall, Box 353600, or call (206) 543-7834 for application deadlines and other important information. 

Primary Endorsement in French:

Available to those with a UW MIT degree and State of WA teaching certificate. Requires completion of 45 credits of 300 and 400-level work as described below.

  • Mandatory requirement: French 301, 302, 303
  • Literary Studies (at least one course from this category): French 304, 305, 306, 307
  • Cultural Studies (at least one from this category): French 378, 470
  • French Linguistics: FRLING 400, 403, 405, or 406
  • To meet the minimum requirement of 45 credits students may take any additional French 400-level credits, French 304, 305, 306, 307, or French Linguistics 449

Secondary Endorsement in French:

Requires completion of 45 credits of 300 and 400-level French.

  • Mandatory requirement: French 301, 302, 303
  • Cultural Studies (at least one) French 378, 470
  • To meet the minimum requirement of 45 credits of French at the 300 and 400-level, select from the following: 210, 304, 305, 306, 307, and 400-level French coursework.
