UW Italian Studies offers a program in Rome every spring quarter at the
University of Washingtons Rome Center in Campo de Fiori in Rome.
Each year the program brings one or two graduate students as teaching
assistants. Teaching assistants
receive their regular stipend as well as housing and airfare subsidies.
Graduate students in Rome are able to organize special studies with
participating faculty. The University of Washington currently has exchange or cooperation agreements with four Italian universities: University for Foreigners (Perugia) These agreements offer a unique opportunity for graduate students to study at an Italian university while earning UW credits. UW Italian Studies has a particularly close relationship with the programs in Italian Studies and Comparative Literature at the University of Bologna where graduate students are able to study with renowned scholars. We also participate in yearly brief faculty exchanges which allow students to interact with Italian scholars at the University of Washington. Scholarship support is available for advanced summer courses in Italian language, literature and culture at the University for Foreigners in Perugia. Please note: *All* outbound students on UW exchanges, (grad and undergrad, int'l or domestic) are required to enroll through the International Programs and Exchanges office and pay a $200/qtr or $300/semester IP&E fee. Those graduate students with TA- or RA-ships from the UW for the quarter(s) they are abroad are exempt from this fee. These students enroll on campus in the regular way through MyUW, and receive their stipends through Payroll. For more information on UW exchange and cooperation agreements with Italian Universities contact the UW Office of International Programs and Exchanges. |
