Minor in French Studies

French Studies Undergraduate Minor Requirements

To minor in French Studies, thirty (30) approved credits above French 203 are required.  It is important to note that French majors have priority over French minors when registering for upper level French courses. The Division of French & Italian Studies cannot guarantee that French minors will be able to complete their requirements in a timely manner.

301, 302, 303* Advanced Syntax and Composition (5,5,5) (15 credits)

304 Survey of French Literature: Origins to 1600 (5 credits)
or 305 Survey of French Literature: 1600-1789 (5 credits)

306 Survey of French Literature: 1789-Present (5 credits)
or a 400-level course (with permission of instructor)

378 The Making of Contemporary France (5 credits)
See adviser about substituting 376 Culture, Politics, and Society in France from the Religious Wars to Revolutions (5 credits)
 
Prerequisites

French 203 for 301
French 301 for 302/ French 302 for 303
French 301, 302 & 303 MUST BE TAKEN IN SEQUENCE.
French 303 for any survey literature course (enrollment in 303 may be concurrent with the survey course).

Note: You may count up to but not more than 5 credits taken abroad towards the minor (301, 302, 303 or a survey literature course).
