 Undergraduate Fuel Cell Research

Current Work
Molded Bipolar Plates Using Conductive Polymers A group of undergraduates has undertaken the task of creating conductive polymer bipolar plates.  The students are conducting the research as a design exercise.  The goal is to use soft tooling techniques and simple open pour molds to create molded bipolar plates.
Inkjet Catalyst Printing A group of undergraduate mechanical and chemical engineers are developing a process for printing catalyst mixtures onto nafion membranes using a piezo-electric inkjet printer

Test Stand Comparison The chemical engineering department has invested in a commercially made test stand and PEM stack. This test stand will serve as a benchmark for the work on the student designed test stand.

Lightweight Alternative Car Project A team of undergraduates is investing time in the development of a competitive fuel cell powered car.  These students hope to compete in an international competition in the coming years!
