For Transfer Students

Transfer Summer Advising and Orientation takes place on many weekdays throughout the summer. Each session will be a half-day either in the morning or afternoon. Transfer students may choose which session they would like to attend based on their own work, school and/or vacation schedule. At Summer Advising, students will learn about degree requirements at UW, have a one-on-one advising appointment with an academic adviser and register for their autumn quarter classes. There are also several workshops students will have the option of attending. Breakfast will be provided during our morning sessions, while lunch will be provided during our afternoon sessions.

For Parents & Families

Parents and guardians of entering students are strongly encouraged to attend one of the Parent Orientations during the summer. Having a son or daughter beginning college is simultaneously exciting and stressful; and, due to its size, the University of Washington may seem complex and overwhelming. The staff of First Year Programs recognizes these issues and is here to help you. Parent Orientations are scheduled periodically throughout the summer to fit with your schedule, and the programs directly address the most important issues and concerns of parents.
