TRIG Instructors
The Transfer and Returning Interest Group program is intended to provide a supportive structure where students will be challenged to discover ways to become integrated into the UW environment and see the practical application of many UW resources and services in light of their own past experience and future goals. TRIG Peer Instructors assist with this process by facilitating a 2-credit Gen ST 199 course called The University Community.
TRIG Instructors gain and hone their leadership, presentation, group facilitation, and teaching skills. TRIG Instructors are trained Spring Quarter by enrolling in a 2-credit course (C/NC), GEN ST 470, Undergraduate Peer Instructor Practicum. There is some minimal class preparation work needed over the summer to prepare for class in the fall. In Fall Quarter, TRIG Instructors will meet once a week with a class, for a lecture and with the coordinator and other instructors in the TRIG Program. TRIG Instructors will receive 3 more credits of GEN ST 470 in the fall, totaling 5 credits for the total experience.
