Research Interests

During her time as an ALVA intern during the summer of 2007, Christean studied in the Department of Biology's Di Stilio lab. Her research project's main objective was to better understand how the genome size and polyploidy of basal flowering plants has evolved. To study this, she used three samples of the same plant species and anzlyzed and calculated the C-value based on information obtained form a flow cytometer. With the data obtained, they are better able to place a given species within a phylogenetic context.
