Jennifer worked as an intern with the King County Medical Examiner's Office during the summer of 2011. Her research focused on a variety of areas of forensic science including forensic anthropology, autopsy, and ballistics. For the purposes of her final project, she chose to focus on the variation of gun shot residue (GSR) based on weapon and firing distance. She found that at farther distances, there was a marked difference in both the soot pattern and the stippling caused by the GSR. This data allows for estimates to be made regarding firing range with various weaponry.
During the summer of 2013, Jennifer participated in the Summer Medical and Dental Education Program (SMDEP) at the University of Washington.
