Otilia participated in the ALVA program as a high school senior in the summer of 2003 and again as an incoming freshman in the summer of 2004. During her time in ALVA, she performed research with the Department of Immunology and is currently on leave from the Army pursuing a degree in nursing. She is also an active member of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc.
