Sara Seanez
Sara Seanez, a 2006 graduate of Moses Lake High School, is a University of Washington junior majoring in microbiology, while completing all the prerequisites for dental school. During the summer of 2005, she participated in the GenOM Project high school summer research program. Through the program she gained laboratory training and research experience, which made her well prepared for college. The following summer, she applied again to the GenOM Project’s summer program and earned the opportunity to conduct research in the School of Dentistry, which greatly fostered her interest in that field. Sara now plans to attend the School of Dentistry following graduation from the University of Washington. Currently, Sara is funded by the GenOM Project and the Genetech Foundation to conduct research. She uses the funds to work in a neurogenetics lab that studies a rare neurological disorder. Every day she continues to learn valuable information from her mentor and peers. Sara is also an active member of the campus community as a Student Ambassador for the Office of Minority Affairs. She is also a proud sister and current Vice President of the Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc chapter on campus and a UW HHMI Biology Fellow. She couldn’t be more appreciative to the GenOM Program Staff who have done and continue to do so much for her. View 2005 Research Paper View 2006 Research Paper | ||||||
