Nati ChavezNati participated in the GenOM Summer research program as both a senior in high school, during the summer of 2003, and as an incoming freshman, in the summer of 2004. During her first summer with the program she completed research in the Materials Science and Engineering Department studying the "Preparation of porous chitosan scaffolds with hyroxyapatite." Her second summer with the program she had the opportunity to study the "Origin of chromosomal translocations that cause Leukemia" in the Radiation Oncology Department. As an undergraduate, Nati continued to participate in research through the GenOM program, studying "Cancer Screening Incidence Rates at Different Stages of Time, by Race/Ethnicity," a project run through the Fred Hutichinson Cancer Research Center's Epidemiology Program. She was on the Dean's List three times as an undergraduate and was both a McNair and Safeco Diversity Scholar. She also participated in MIRT during the summer of 2007. She graduated with a bachelors in Psychology in June of 2008 and plans attend graduate school for nuring in the fall of 2009. Currently, she works as a Health Educator with SeaMar. | |||||||
