The American Red Cross Serving King & Kitsap Counties is currently seeking a Development Assistant to join our development team in the Seattle office. Responsibilities include providing support for events and campaigns (Heroes Breakfast, Tiffany Circle, Board and Major Donor events), coordinating Development Department volunteers and giving campaign, in-kind donations, and community fundraising events, and providing the cultivation, stewardship and tracking of workplace campaign donors through research, communication and contact.
Major Responsibilities:
In addition to providing general department support, duties include the following:
Assist with logistics for all events, including vendor research and arrangements, audio-visual services, entertainment, table arrangements, registration process and day-of-event logistics
Assist with print projects for all events including providing templates, follow-up on print deadlines, prepping projects and/or coordinating with volunteers
Assist with finalizing guest lists and sending event mailings
Assist with the annual Heroes Breakfast including nomination research, committee selection, coordinating correspondence and day-of-event arrangements
Oversee the recruitment and coordination of all event volunteers
Oversee the solicitation of in-kind donations for all events from vendors
Respond to inquiries for all community fundraising events
Track all community fundraising events and donations in Raiser’s Edge
Maintain records and provide acknowledgement letters for in-kind gifts
Manage volunteers for the department and track all volunteer hours
Solicit, track and acknowledge auction items and provide logistical support to online auction website and customers
Oversee Volunteer Giving Campaign – plan, implement and provide analysis and reporting on campaign results
Maintain contact and stewardship with United Way, CFC and workplace giving donors and track and report these donors in Raiser’s Edge
Assist in mail merge, printing and mailings as needed
Other duties as assignedRequirements:
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in English, Business, Human Services or a related field
At least one year of successful fundraising or non-profit experience including special events logistics, creation of proposals, solicitation of in-kind donations and volunteer coordination
Strong database experience using Excel. Proficiency with other Microsoft Office software including Word, Access and Outlook. Experience with Raiser’s Edge a plus.
Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to write persuasively, good spelling and grammar
Strong oral communications skills, including a professional telephone manner
Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively and productively with volunteers, staff and the public
Valid Washington State Driver’s License and a clean driving record.SALARY: $16.13 – $16.80 per hour + full benefits
