Internship – Washington New Americans

Washington New Americans Intern, OneAmerica
OneAmerica (formerly Hate Free Zone) is a nationally recognized non-profit organization whose mission is to advance the fundamental principles of democracy and justice at the local, state, and national levels through building power in immigrant communities, in conjunction with key allies.

Washington New Americans Intern: This is an unpaid volunteer position for a minimum duration of 3 months which focuses on the Washington New Americans (WNA) Program. WNA ensures that free naturalization services are available to all eligible legal permanent residents in Washington State and provides the opportunity for legal permanent residents to become U.S. citizens and active members of our community. The position is based in our Seattle office and reports to the WNA Program Associate.

Primary Responsibilities:

-Implement WNA program goals and objectives under the supervision of the New Americans Program Coordinator and Program Associate
-Support preparations for Citizenship Days across the state, including identifying local partners, materials coordination, develop methods to gather data for reporting purposes, revise materials, research resources for legal permanent residents, etc.
-Assisting with outreach to the immigrant community and identifying new outreach methods
-Respond to inquiries about Washington New Americans program through website and hotline
-Data entry and other administrative duties
-Updating WNA website


-Demonstrated commitment to fighting for social, racial, and economic justice
-Bi/multilingual ability preferred (Spanish, Russian, and/or Somali highly desired)
-Strong verbal, listening, and written communications skills
-Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
-Self-starter with demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple, complex tasks
-Computer/internet competency
-Experience with event planning and/or statistics preferred, but not required
-Experience with Salesforce a plus, but not required
