The Center is in the process of developing the North Texas Spatial Data Warehouse for use by Consortium members. It is also supporting the North Texas Community Information System, a community access system for fostering neighborhood health and development. If appropriate, the opportunity exists for the candidate to serve as Executive Director of the Bruton Center. The Center operates as a part of the School of Social Sciences which offers under-graduate degrees in economics and finance, government and politics, sociology, public administration, geography, criminology and justice studies (to be initiated Fall, 1997), as well as graduate degrees in public affairs (MPA) and political economy (Ph.D.), with MSc degrees under consideration in applied economics, applied sociology and geographical information sciences (in conjunction with the Program in Geoscience). Uniquely, the School functions in an interdisciplinary environment without depart-mental units and includes faculty with national and international reputations, especially in the area of urban and regional development. The appointment will be to a tenured or tenure-track faculty position in the School.
