sample jobs in geography -

regional geography and international development

The job samples listed here are meant to give you ideas for the kind of work you may want to prepare for if you are focusing on economic processes within geography.

Remember that work within the UW Regional Geography and International Development Option can include and build on:

  • population growth and migration
  • development history, theory and practice
  • urbanization processes
  • economic development and global interdependencies
  • resources, hunger, health and poverty

The following openings are not current, but they are "real" job advertisements, as they appeared in newspapers and other job listings (with only the contact information removed).

Consider what skills and abilities are being asked for in these jobs and consider what you'll need to do (ideally, while you are still in school) to prepare yourself for other jobs like these.

Entry-level positions, which may ask for various combinations of experience, perhaps acquired during an internship or other period of work.

Mid-Level positions. These jobs are just beyond entry level jobs, with most asking for 3-5 years experience, and/or a graduate degree.

Senior positions - and most require management experience, along with professional qualifications.
