PGOPS (Professional Geographers of Puget Sound)
Formed in the late 1980s as an interest group of geographers working in the area, it continues as a loosely organized group, with dues still set at $12/year. UW geography students should seek this group out if they hope to work as professionals in the area. Members work in all facets of geography and most are happy to talk with students and encourage their efforts. Call or email me or Rick Roth for information.

WTS (Women's Transportation Seminar) is an especially good and active group that meets monthly in the Puget Sound area and has members in all kinds of jobs, including planners, engineers, elected officials - even geographers! Their meeting topics cover all the transportation issues, local to national. Men are welcomed as members. If you are interested in any facet of transportation, do consider joining this organization.
