Work with Asset Management staff to collect GPS data for all of the
manholes and conveyance facilities in the King County wastewater system;
extensive field work for two teams of two interns with some office
work to migrate the collected data into a GIS; make daily collection
plans, collect the necessary background information from the office,
collect the GPS data in the field, post process the data and enter
it into the GIS, and produce cartographic and other types of reports.
II. GIS Project Intern. Link GIS information of the sewer system and
facilities to scanned engineering drawings; field verification, QA/QC
and review of spatial components of existing data. Upon completion
of this project, users will be able to go to the intranet, click on
a map, and have the choice of photo, drawing, attribute and additional
information links; interface with the GPS Data Collection interns. CH2MHill. Calling local foundation grantees and developing an understanding of how their project work can be represented spatially; entering grantee project data from grants and proposals into a web-based Grant Portfolio Mapping system; performing any follow-up that may be required to perfect the data in the system; use common VirtualEarth map tools (set points and lines, delineate polygons), familiarity with geography on the African continent and knowledge of the United Nations GAUL (Global Administrative Unit Layer) dataset. Knowledge of agriculture development or environmental resource management. US Environmental Protection Agency. Assist Aquatic Resources Unit with implementing a pilot project dealing with priority watersheds. Work with wetland scientists and GIS experts to gather appropriate GIS data layers within priority watersheds. Create GIS data layers from internal data sources. City of Sumner, Planning Intern. Assists with permit review, counter coverage and other research for Community Development Dept. ESA Adolfson, GIS Internship. Using GIS for environmental planning. Georeferencing, editing, digitizing and map production for print and digital presentation. Port of Seattle, Aviation Planning Intern. Collect, compile, report, provide analysis and interpretation about SeaTac passengers, aircraft operations, ground access vehicles and cargo. Also report on other airports, esp. in regards to new technologies, business and planning trends, and pertinent local, state and federal policy issues. City of Bainbridge Island, Shoreline Stewardship Program intern. Planning Dept. Learn about shorelines and environmental management issues and challenges associated with managing natural resources and environmental planning.
