German 203 - Course Goals

The main goal in this course is to increase your reading skills but we are not neglecting your speaking and writing skills in German. We are going to read a selection of 20th century German (Austrian, Swiss) literature in the various genres: short story, filmscript, poetry and novel. We are also undertaking to write a newspaper based on the contents of a filmscript.

Homework and Attendance

It is simply not possible to make satisfactory progress in this or any other language course without punctual submission of assignments and thorough preparation for class. Because participation is an integral part of learning a foreign language, it is absolutely necessary that you attend class regularly, and absences will affect your final grade considerably. Tests or quizzes must be taken on dates and times indicated.
