CDI Overview

Faculty participants in Curriculum Development Institutes (CDIs) will become leaders in preparing social work students with the knowledge, values, and skills to meet the workforce needs of our rapidly aging society. As such, they will be at the forefront of this new regional model for promoting and sustaining curricular and organizational change in social work programs. During this three-year initiative, the change processes for infusing and transforming foundation courses with gerontological competencies are emphasized, rather than gerontological specialization or electives. Mentors provide consultation between the annual Institutes and encourage ongoing regional collaborations among programs to ensure that all graduates have foundation competencies to work effectively with older adults and their families.
