Textbook Analysis Project An analysis of 19 of the most frequently used social work foundation textbooks, conducted under CSWE Gero-Ed Center auspices, found that only 3% of the 9,828 pages analyzed contained aging content. The full report from the Textbook Analysis Project is published in the spring 2006 issue of the Journal of Social Work Education (JSWE). Click here to read the Executive Summary. Click here to read the full article "An Analysis of Social Work Textbooks for Aging Content:
How Well Do Social Work Foundation Texts Prepare Students for Our Aging Society?" from the spring 2006 issue of the Journal of Social Work Education. The Gero-Ed Center actively seeks partnerships with textbook authors and editors to increase the quantity and quality of aging content in foundation social work textbooks. If you are an author or editor of such a text and are interested in working with our staff to identify teaching materials for infusion in your text, please contact Nancy Hooyman, hooy@u.washington.edu. The Gero-Ed Center has extensive curricular resources that we are eager to share with authors. We also encourage faculty to visit our Teaching Resources section for a wealth of resources, including syllabi, case studies, and exercises, to use in the classroom.
