Consultative & Hospital Medicine Program

Inpatient Medicine Teaching Curriculum

Mission Statement
We've designed these handouts for University of Washington internal medicine residents and attendings. The handouts focus on practical diagnosis and management tips that can be used at the hospital bedside or on teaching rounds. We've selected 15 common or high-risk admitting diagnoses as the core topics, which represent many of the most familiar diagnoses in U.S. hospitals. Case patients in the handouts are inspired by those we cared for on the Harborview hospitalist service. Scroll down for addition handouts covering dozens more common inpatient medicine topics.
We attempt to reflect current medical evidence and update the topics yearly, but information in the handouts should never supercede clinical judgment for individual patients.  Let us know what you think,
