Veterans’ Administration Health Services Research and
Development Center of Excellence
The VA HSR&D Center of Excellence is a program comprised of 21 core
and 22 affiliate investigators with a highly diversified research
portfolio focusing on 1) management of chronic disease in primary and
specialty care, 2) preservation of independence in older adults, and 3)
evaluation of alternative delivery systems. Major collaborating community
institutions include the University of Washington School of Public Health
and Community Medicine and School of Medicine in Seattle, and the Oregon
Health Sciences University Division of Medical Informatics and Outcomes
Research and the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine in
Portland. There are approximately 120 active awards for research projects,
administration, and training.
