Looking Ahead With the Vath Family
Two alumni share gratitude for their medical school.
When their attorney asked the Vaths if they wanted to use their will to make a charitable contribution, they didn’t hesitate. In fact, they knew exactly where they wanted the gift to go. “Both of us said ‘the UW’s medical school,’” says Brian Vath, M.D. ’00, Res. ’03, ’06.
What prompted them to make a will? Brian and his wife and fellow alumnus, Julie S. Vath, M.D. ’00, had started a family, and they wanted to make sure all their affairs were in order. In choosing the UW School of Medicine as a beneficiary, they were expressing gratitude for a great medical education.
“Doors opened for us — anywhere we’d want to go and anything we’d want to do in the field of medicine,” says Brian. “By supporting UW Medicine, we can pass that on.”
