Peter Wootton Professorship in Radiation Oncology
The Peter Wootton Professorship in Radiation Oncology was established in 1991.
Prof. Peter Wootton received a bachelor’s degree in the United Kingdom, but due to circumstances surrounding World War II, he was unable to complete his postgraduate education.
Despite this setback, he managed to rise to the rank of full professor in radiation oncology in addition to being a medical radiation physicist. He served as vice chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at its inception in 1979; he stepped down from his administrative duties in 1991. Professor Wootton also served as president of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine in 1978.
Professor Wootton passed away in May 2004.
