Dr. Swanson, a neurologist, received a Ph.D. in neurochemistry from the University of London and an M.D. from Johns Hopkins University. He is an expert in neurologically based movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease, and he both manages the treatment of patients with these disorders and has participated in a number of clinical trials of new medications. In recent years, Dr. Swanson has been an active participant in epidemiological studies looking into environmental-genetic interactions that may cause Parkinson’s disease.
