The AMA Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the American Medical Association. Founded in 1950, the AMA Foundation seeks to advance health care through support of programs in medical education, research, and service.

Every year, the American Medical Association Foundation raises funds for scholarship through contributions from AMA members. The contributors to this scholarship, primarily doctors from the WWAMI region, have decided to invest in students from Washington attending the University of Washington School of Medicine.
