Helen Elizabeth Schenk was born in Brienz, Switzerland, in 1913 and passed away in 2004. Described by friends as soft-spoken, thoughtful, and honest, Ms. Schenk was an active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was also an ardent stamp collector and loved breeding and showing dogs; she was a member of the American Manchester Terrier Club and a charter member and officer of Evergreen Empire Manchester Terrier Club. In her later years, Ms. Schenk received care at UW Medical Center and made a generous bequest provision for scholarships at UW Medicine. Ms. Schenk was never without her canine companion, Charlie, whose vivacious spirit exemplified Ms. Schenk’s joie de vivre.
